Our country clothing shop, Home Wood & Hale is open Wednesday to Sunday from 9:30 until 5pm.

To see our range of Hull cartridges here.

We also stock Gamebore, please enquire for details of stock and delivery dates.

  • Do you have any cartridge restrictions?

No, we have no restrictions. We do prefer Fibre Wad, but plastic is fine too.

  • What equipment do I need to bring?

If you are a beginner coming for a lesson - you just need to bring yourself. We will provide

you with a gun, cartridges, the appropriate protection, insurance.

If you are coming for practice - you will need your own gun. We do not hire our ground guns

out to practice shooters. We sell cartridges on site, and we also have eye and ear protection

    available.

  • What about if I am a beginner having lessons?

We will provide a gun for you.

  • Do I need to have a licence to shoot?

If you are practicing, you need your own gun and licence. If you are having a lesson, it is not

necessary to have a gun and licence as you are covered under our secion 11 Exemption

    Certificate.

  • I don’t have a licence or gun. Can I shoot with my friend who does?

Yes - we have an exemption certificate which allows this to be possible. Your friend will be

solely responsible for you and may only have one non licence holder per licence. Please call us

to let us know you are planning to shoot alongside a licence holding friend. We will need to take

a few more more details from you.

  • Can my friend come to watch?

Yes, the more the merrier! As long as they wear the relevant safety equipment provided and

follow the instructors advice on where it is safe to stand.

  • What age can you begin shooting?

There is no legal age limit, as long as children are strong enough to hold a shotgun and able to

understand the important safety aspects necessary in order to enjoy the sport. We would always

suggest bringing your child along for an individual lesson with one of our instructors, to see if

they are keen to learn, before considering investing in a gun.

  • How do I book a lesson?

The easiest way is to give us a call, or you can drop us an email. Or you can always pop in and

    see us!

  • Do I need to be a member to shoot?

No, you do not need to be a member. As long as you have your own shotgun and certificate you

    are able to shoot here.

  • How do I join Grimsthorpe Girls?

We have a Facebook group - just search Grimsthorpe Girls and ask to join the group. If you

would like to come to an event, tick ‘going’ on the event page. If you don’t have Facebook, have a look on the website or give us a call!

  • Do you have disabled access?

Yes, we have disabled access into and throughout the clubhouse, and most areas on the

ground (we are in a woodland setting so the terrain is gravel pathways)

  • Will shooting hurt my shoulder?

Our instructors will always make sure that you are provided with a gun suitable to your height

and build. Along with low recoil cartridges, a shoulder pad if necessary and the correct gun

position in your shoulder will all ensure you enjoy your experience.

  • How many cartridges will I use in a lesson?

If you are a beginner you will use roughly 25-50. If you are more experienced you will use

    roughly 75-100.

  • What about the weather?

We are an outdoor sport, so we shoot in all weathers. The only time we will stop is for gail force

    winds, thunder and lightning.

  • Can I bring my dog?

Dogs are welcome on the ground as long as they are kept on leads. Dogs are not allowed in the

    clubhouse.

  • How do I find you?

Please go to the location page to find where we are.
